Kid’s Halloween costume catches fire on candles lining steps to N.J. house

A 7-year-old’s Halloween costume caught fire on a lit candle while she was trick-or-treating in Lambertville on Thursday night, authorities said.
The girl’s costume caught fire on candles lining the steps of a home on Union Street at about 8 p.m., police said.
A good Samaritan who was also out collecting candy with his child used his hands to put out the fire.
The girl was brought to an area hospital with first- and second-degree burns and later transferred to a different hospital.
The girl, who was with her parents when the costume ignited, has since been treated and released.
The good Samaritan declined to be treated for minor injuries.
